CRKN works with publishers and vendors from around the world to bring academic research content to CRKN member institutions. Each content provider may offer one or more content packages for CRKN member institutions and CRKN negotiates each license with terms that are fixed for the length of the contract (generally three to five years).
The Content Strategy Committee has developed a set of Licensing Program Principles and Assessment Guidelines for Open Access Publishers that guide CRKN’s licensing activities. Publishers and vendors wishing to propose new content for licensing with CRKN should review the Licensing Program Principles and Assessment Guidelines for Open Access Publishers.
CRKN also believes in fair, predictable, and transparent pricing. As such, we have developed the Banding System to provide a relative measure of comparison of research and teaching intensity among consortium members and to give content vendors a consistent basis for setting prices. We encourage vendors and publishers to review the principles of the banding system to ensure alignment with any proposed pricing.
If you have an opportunity that is in alignment with CRKN’s principles, please send an email to licensing@crkn.ca.
