Push and Pull: Negotiating Evidence Based Acquisition (EBA) Programs in a Pandemic

In response to ongoing restrictions to physical collections and moves to online and hybrid classes in the Fall, the Collections & Content Strategies Team at Western Libraries examined various means to bolster digital access to monographs. This year Western Libraries pursued additional EBA programs in order to increase Ebook access in a time of high digital demand while keeping fiscally-responsible.

In response to ongoing restrictions to physical collections and moves to online and hybrid classes in the Fall, the Collections & Content Strategies Team at Western Libraries examined various means to bolster digital access to monographs. Success in previous years with Taylor & Francis and Cambridge Evidence Based Acquisition (EBA) programs demonstrated a viable way to purchase Ebooks based on usage while also benefitting from DRM-free access and vendor discounts. This year Western Libraries pursued additional EBA programs in order to increase Ebook access in a time of high digital demand while keeping fiscally-responsible. The speakers will share their experience and advice when negotiating a new EBA program.
