CRKN’s Heritage Content Priorities Task Group (HCPTG) is pleased to announce that its Final Report is now available on the CRKN website. This report presents an overview of the task group’s work as well as principles, criteria, and recommendations that will guide the development of the Canadiana collections and CRKN’s digitization, hosting, and preservation services. The goal of these recommendations is to ensure that the Canadiana collections and CRKN’s heritage services remain vital and continue to meet member and stakeholder needs.
The HCPTG was launched in January 2019 to establish a scope of work for the development and enhancement of Canadiana content and CRKN’s heritage services. After conducting research and consultations throughout 2019, the HCPTG distributed a survey to CRKN members and stakeholders in April 2020 to assess the current needs, challenges, and opportunities experienced by the heritage sector in Canada with regard to digitization, access and preservation. The results of this survey greatly informed the Final Report, which was presented to CRKN members during the 2020 CRKN Virtual Conference. Further feedback gained from the conference presentation was used to fine-tune the report.
The final draft of the report has been endorsed by the Preservation and Access Committee (PAC) and Content Strategy Committee (CSC), and the PAC is currently creating an implementation plan to outline the process for carrying out the report’s recommendations.
CRKN and the HCPTG would like to thank all members, stakeholders, and colleagues who participated in this task group and in the development of the report. We look forward to beginning the next stages of this important work.
