Call for Proposals
The call for proposals is closed.
The deadline for the 2024 CRKN Virtual Conference call for proposals has been extended until Thursday, January 25 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
The Virtual Conference will be held from May 22-24, 2024 online.
Our conference theme is “Building Lasting Connections,” and we invite proposals that speak broadly to this theme. Connections are vital to how we overcome challenges and ensure a transformative future in our work in the scholarly and heritage sectors, whether through the partnerships that we build or through the connections that our work enables. Does your organization have a story to tell about how you connected with your community to achieve a shared goal, partnered with a stakeholder to develop a new resource, or discovered a new perspective by building a lasting connection?
In celebration of connections, we invite abstracts on topics including, but not limited to:
- Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (EDIA) initiatives
- Truth and Reconciliation in library and GLAM practices
- Innovative partnerships in the research and GLAM sectors
- Open access and open science
- Persistent identifiers
- Community-developed projects and tools
- Accountability standards and practices
- Perspectives on research and scholarship through the lens of connections
- Increasing accessibility and discoverability of research content and collections
Proposals may take the form of:
- 15-minute talks or presentations
- 30-minute sessions
- 60-minute sessions
- 30-minute guided thematic discussions: guided thematic discussions are sessions that are facilitated by at least one host and that incorporate attendee participation, similar to an extended question and answer period
If you wish to propose a different type of session, please provide additional information in your submission about how your session would unfold.
CRKN actively encourages proposals from individuals who identify as part of marginalized communities, including but not limited to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit individuals, LGBTQIA2+ individuals, disabled individuals, and people of colour. CRKN also actively encourages proposals from individuals associated with small or under-funded organizations, or organizations with specialized focuses.
Proposals should include a 250-word abstract for your presentation or panel and a 100-word speaker biography for each speaker. Please submit your proposals using this form by Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. ET.
All proposals will be considered, and final recommendations will be made by the CRKN Conference Planning Committee for approval by the CRKN Board of Directors. All proposals will be delivered virtually to a virtual audience.
