CRKN is pleased to announce that it has signed a new three-year, read-and-publish agreement with Oxford University Press.
Authors at CRKN member institutions will benefit from unlimited open access publishing in more than 350 Oxford hybrid journals at no cost to the author (i.e. with no article processing charge (APC)), and a 10% discount on APCs when publishing in Oxford’s gold open access journals. It is estimated that the agreement will result in the publication of over 900 open access articles by Canadian authors per year throughout its duration.
Over several months, CRKN’s Content Strategy Committee (CSC) successfully negotiated for terms in the agreement that reflect the needs of CRKN members, at the best value possible. The CSC uses CRKN’s Licensing Principles along with feedback from members to guide this process.
"On behalf of the CSC, we’re thrilled that this agreement has been reached with Oxford University Press," said Denise LaFitte, CSC Chair and Acting Vice-Provost (Library & Museums) and Chief Librarian, University of Alberta. "This agreement will provide participating CRKN members and Canadian researchers with further access to crucial published content and enable their research to be openly accessible for global impact."
By signing this read-and-publish agreement, CRKN and our member community demonstrate our commitment to transforming scholarly communications. Together, we are building a future where knowledge is accessible to all.
CRKN is grateful to the members of the CSC for their guidance through this license renewal negotiation process and for their continued engagement and insights.
The term of this agreement is January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2026 and includes 69 participants. The complete agreement is available on the CRKN website.
