Shaping the Future: CRKN’s Evolving Open Access Strategy
As CRKN pursues a multi-pronged approach to open access, it is an opportune time to evaluate the efficacy of our existing read and publish agreements, OA partnerships, and contextualize our approach within the international scholarly communications landscape. During this session we will begin with a brief overview of the results of our R&P deals to date, followed by breakout group discussions with ample time for members to discuss the effects – both positive and negative – of these agreements. While assessing our OA approach, we are also celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Partnership for Open Access between CRKN and Érudit. This year has been one of true collaboration, as we work towards a new, landmark partnership agreement that will support a sustainable Canadian open access ecosystem. In this discussion session, we will begin by discussing the CRKN-Érudit partnership, how our library community can best support this vital OA initiative, and how we can collectively use it as a launching point for a new phase of championing a sustainable diamond open access future for Canadian publishing.
