Sustaining Global Open Access: Canada's Next Steps for Collective Commitment
Wednesday October 02, 2024
From 4:30pm to 5:00pm
The SCOSS model is simple and effective, enabling key open infrastructures to secure sustainable funding through global investment from libraries and consortia. However, with each SCOSS round, fewer Canadian institutions are participating. Given Canada's longstanding role in advancing open access, this trend raises critical questions about how we, as a Canadian academic community, can reaffirm our collective commitment to supporting global OA initiatives. This session will explore the reasons behind this decline and propose strategies to recalibrate Canada's approach, fostering deeper national collaboration to strengthen our collective contribution and sustain vital global open infrastructures.
