Homosaurus, the journey of a French translation

As librarians, we found a gap in our controlled gender and sexuality vocabularies. Under the leadership of an UQAR librarian, a French translation group was born, with the purpose of the 2,000 English terms of Homosaurus. Our initiative aims to make accessible a French version of this open tool and linked data, used to describe the realities of gender and sexualities whose terminology is emerging. We anticipate the use of this tool in libraries and metadata thus improving the discoverability data and analysis on its subjects with specific descriptors closer to reality.
