Persistent Identifiers (PIDs) in Canada

In this session, attendees will be introduced to PIDs and their value, learn more about the work of ORCID-CA and the DataCite Canada Consortium, before exploring the strategic goals and importance of a Canadian PIDs implementation plan. The session will end with a discussion with the aim of exploring how we can come together as a community to build that plan and strategy.

This year CRKN has continued the work of the Canadian ORCID consortium (ORCID-CA) and partnered with CARL-Portage to administer the new DataCite Canada consortium. With these two national PID consortiums in place, members and stakeholders are now looking to develop and implement a national PID strategy. In this session, attendees will be introduced to PIDs and their value, learn more about the work of ORCID-CA and the DataCite Canada Consortium, before exploring the strategic goals and importance of a Canadian PIDs implementation plan.
