Transformative Agreements: Crucial Considerations for Canada
As some publishers transition their strategy from ‘big deals’ to transformative agreements, how do we, as a community, ensure that we uphold our values of access to research and foster a sustainable scholarly communication system? Transformative agreements are not a one-size-fits-all approach and the Canadian academic community has an opportunity to define its own approach to transitioning big deals to open access. In this session, speakers will provide an analysis of the often-unseen transformative agreement costs to highlight what is gained and what is lost in these deals. In addition to providing critical considerations for transformative agreements, the goal of this session will be to foster dialogue between scholarly communications and collections library workers and brainstorm future opportunities to collectively analyze open access agreements.
