The CRKN Board of Directors is pleased to welcome the National Research Council Canada (NRC) as an associate member, bringing the CRKN community up to 89 members. Approved at the 2024 Annual General Meeting, this institution is now participating in CRKN’s content licensing program.
Established in 1916, the NRC is Canada's largest federal research and development organization. Their current research and innovation priorities are focused on climate change and sustainability, health and biomanufacturing, digital and quantum technologies, as well as addressing emerging opportunities where new knowledge, technologies and innovations can secure a prosperous future for Canada.
“The NRC is proud to join the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) community as an associate member. Working together with the CRKN, we are strengthening our commitment to open science by expanding access to scholarly research, supporting digital preservation through Canadiana.org, and advancing open access initiatives that benefit the broader research community in Canada.” – Sandy Kyriakatos, Chief Information Officer, National Research Council of Canada.
Associate Members of CRKN join our network of academic and research institutions from across Canada and benefit from access to member-only resources, priority rates for CRKN’s digitization services and annual conference, governance opportunities through CRKN’s committees and task groups, and more. Associate Members participating in our content licensing program also benefit from a collective negotiating body that ensures sustainable pricing and achieves agreements with publishers that meet the needs of the Canadian research ecosystem.
