Clare Appavoo has been the Executive Director of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN) since 2012. As Executive Director, Clare oversees the delivery, to Canada’s university libraries, of over $129M of licensed digital content annually while also providing digitization of, access to and preservation of Canadian heritage content for researchers and the public.

Building on the robust discussions on CRKN’s Canada Foundation for Innovation, Innovation Fund grant application at last year’s CRKN business meetings, this session will provide an update to members on how the project vision has evolved over the past year. We will also introduce the new research team, discuss how this infrastructure will facilitate future research, and outline the timeline and status of the application. This session will also include a detailed discussion of the ongoing financial support needed from members in the next few years, to support Canadiana services and Infrastructure as we develop the CFI IF application to transform Canadiana into our collective vision for essential infrastructure that enables cutting-edge research.

This session will be the launch of the member engagement process as we develop CRKN’s new strategic plan for 2025-2029. Through the facilitation of Julien Leblanc from blueprint, members will engage in robust discussions about the future of CRKN’s programs and the work that we need to do in the next five years.
