Future Shift: Transformative Change within UVic Libraries
UVic Libraries is actively engaged in establishing a number of innovative projects to create transformative change across its organization, specifically in the areas of equity, diversity, inclusion, and decolonization. This change is being implemented in multiple ways, including a new organizational structure, to ensure that systemic approaches are reframed to promote and ensure inclusivity and organizational success. This 30-minute presentation, delivered by Ry Moran, UVic Libraries’ new Associate University Librarian for Reconciliation, will explore some of the changes underway.
Discussed will be new staff learning sessions, the creation of an Elders and Knowledge Keepers Advisory Circle, UVic Libraries’ response to the children being reclaimed by communities across the country and partnerships struck with local community organizations. Also included will be important discussions on how UVic Libraries are adopting rights based principles in the stewardship of archival collections.
Ry will discuss the work that has been done at UVic Libraries, and what still needs to be done.
