Investing CRKN/Elsevier savings to improve EDI in collections at UofT
The University of Toronto Libraries developed an initiative to advance the Libraries’ Equity, inclusion, and diversity goals by investing the savings gained from the CRKN negotiated Elsevier contract to fund projects that contribute to the continued development of diverse collections and acquisitions practices. The goal of the initiative is to provide members of the University of Toronto collections community with the opportunity to submit their ideas for projects that enhance the diversity of our collections and collections practices. These projects could be ideas to increase our direct engagement with BIPOC-owned publishers, knowledge holders, creators, and vendors; develop collections or support publishing and preservation in areas that have not traditionally been well-funded; or strengthen existing engagement to build broadly representative collections. This presentation will talk about our process for implementing this initiative and some of the projects we are funding now.
