Kealin McCabe has been the Research and Learning Services Librarian at UNBC since 2008, and has been a Community Scholars Librarian since 2018. She is currently pursuing an Ed.D at the University of British Columbia where her research focuses on disability and ableism in higher education.

Since 2017 the Community Scholars Program has connected researchers in BC-based non-profit organizations with access to published academic research together with supporting library services. In 2021, Community Scholars Librarians undertook work on a Theory of Change, reflecting on various inputs in order to consider the development of the Program to date, its values, and how it might effectively respond to the evolving needs of participating Community Scholars, even as the program matures into sustainability, and attracts new supporting organizations.
